Nintendo Switch 2 plays Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games, as well as both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games. Certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.

The Nintendo Switch 2, measuring approximately 4.5 x 10.7 x 0.55 inches (1.2 inches at its thickest points) and weighing around 0.88 lbs (1.18 lbs with Joy-Con 2 controllers attached), features a 7.9-inch capacitive touch LCD screen with a 1920x1080 resolution, HDR10 support, and VRR up to 120 Hz. Powering the console is a custom NVIDIA processor, complemented by 256 GB of UFS storage. For connectivity, it offers Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, and a wired LAN port on the dock for TV mode. In TV mode, it supports video output up to 4K at 60 fps or 1080p/1440p at 120 fps via HDMI, with HDR10 support, while handheld and tabletop modes max out at 1080p. Audio is handled by stereo speakers, a built-in mono microphone with noise cancellation, and 5.1ch linear PCM output via HDMI in TV mode. The console includes power and volume buttons, two USB-C ports (one for charging/docking, one for accessories/charging), and a 3.5mm audio jack. It features slots for both Nintendo Switch 2 and original Nintendo Switch game cards, as well as a microSD Express card slot compatible with cards up to 2 TB. Sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, and mouse sensor in the Joy-Con 2 controllers, plus a brightness sensor in the console. Operating between 41-95 degrees F and 20-80% humidity, the Switch 2 is powered by a 5220mAh lithium-ion battery, offering approximately 2 to 6.5 hours of gameplay and taking about 3 hours to fully charge in Sleep mode.
