Nintendo Switch 2 plays Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games, as well as both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games. Certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.

It features slots for both Nintendo Switch 2 and original Nintendo Switch game cards, as well as a microSD Express card slot compatible with cards up to 2 TB. Sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, and mouse sensor in the Joy-Con 2 controllers, plus a brightness sensor in the console. Operating between 41-95 degrees F and 20-80% humidity, the Switch 2 is powered by a 5220mAh lithium-ion battery, offering approximately 2 to 6.5 hours of gameplay and taking about 3 hours to fully charge in Sleep mode.
